Distance and Length

Recall that I’m inclined to use the words distance and length in different ways:

I might talk about “The distance from one house to another,” but I would then talk about “The length of the path from one house to another.”

In general, I think about distance between points and the length of a line segment, and combine those ideas to say the length of a line segment is the distance between its endpoints.

Remember that distance and length are always positive values.
